Please read completely. Failure to comply with rules may result in being asked to leave.

  1. SPEED LIMIT 5mph   Any car, truck, bike, scooter, or golf cart caught exceeding 5mph may be asked to leave the campground immediately, without refund.

  2. CHECK-OUT TIME 11:30am   If you wish to stay an additional night, please speak to the office by 10am and we will try to accommodate you. Failure to leave by noon will result in being charged a late fee equal to an additional night’s stay.

  3. PROTECT THE TREES   Please do not hang, lean, tie, tape, nail, or otherwise fasten ­anything to our trees, including stumps and branches. Do not climb trees.

  4. NO CAMPFIRES   Absolutely no wood burning fires, tiki torches, or free standing fire pits; only charcoal and propane grills allowed. Fires on the beach are allowed with a National Park ­Service fire permit, available for free in the office.

  5. QUIET HOURS 10pm-7am   Please respect your neighbors. If you have a problem at any time, please report it to the office and management will address it immediately. Emergencies after hours, call 252.489.0483

  6. ONE WAY TRAFFIC   Unless you are setting up or checking out, traffic should move ­counter-clockwise around the circle, never exceeding 5mph.

  7. PETS   Four-legged family members are welcome, but must be on a leash and always cleaned up after. Animals should not be left alone or allowed to disturb others.

  8. TRASH & RECYCLING   All trash should be taken to one of three dumpsters throughout the camp. Recycling is available at the middle dumpster and the store.

  9. RESTROOMS   Young children must be accompanied by an adult. Please report dirty ­conditions, clogged toilets, and lack of toilet paper to the office.

  10. VEHICLE WASHING   No cars, trucks, or campers may be washed in the camp sites. A hose is available on a post behind the large, brown garage.

  11. NO FIREWORKS   Any and all fireworks are illegal on Hatteras Island.

  12. MATS & CARPETS   Rugs of any kind are permitted only on concrete slabs, never grass.

  13. SIDEWALK CHALK & KIDDIE POOLS   Chalk and pools are not permitted.

  14. VISITORS   Anyone visiting must check in at the office. Paid registration is required to use the facilities. Management may limit number of campers on any given site at any time.

  15. NIGHT RIDING   Golf carts, scooters, and bike require headlights when driven at night.

  2. REFUNDS   Ocean Waves Campground does not issue refunds. However, rain-checks do not expire and may be used any time.

  3. GRASS CUTTING   Please make sure vehicles and personal items are removed from the grass on Tuesday night for grass cutting on Wednesday morning, weather permitting.

  4.  POOL HOURS   From May 1 through October 1, the pool is open from 8am until dusk. ­Children must be accompanied by an adult. Swim at your own risk; no lifeguard on duty.

  5. STORE HOURS   Our camp store is open every day from 8:00am until 8:30pm. We offer a variety of groceries, souvenirs, personal items, and camper supplies.

  6. CLEANING FISH   Please use newspapers and trash bags for containing carcasses and scales before placing them in dumpsters to minimize smells and flies.
